About 45Squared
45Squared is a web development studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan, founded in 2015 on a simple belief: businesses deserve a web team that actually knows what it is doing. We design, build, host and look after WordPress websites for small businesses.
What we do
Too many companies get stuck with cookie-cutter websites on unreliable hosting, supported by teams that disappear when something goes wrong. We built 45Squared to be the opposite. Your site is not crammed onto a bargain shared server with thousands of others, and it is looked after by the same people who built it.
Web design and development
Custom WordPress sites built to turn visitors into customers. We also build on other platforms when the project calls for it.
Managed WordPress hosting on AWS
Fast, secure and backed up daily. Security patches, SSL, CDN and uptime monitoring, all handled.
Ongoing support and analytics
We don’t launch and disappear. We monitor your site’s performance, give you actionable reports, and make improvements over time.
Why we are different
We have been doing this since 2015. In that time we have seen hosting companies come and go, watched agencies overpromise and underdeliver, and helped businesses recover from both. Here is what sets us apart.
We’re hands-on, not resellers
We run the hosting ourselves, so when something needs fixing, we fix it. No tickets to a third party, no waiting days for a response.
WordPress is our specialty
We don’t just install themes. We understand the platform deeply: performance, security hardening, plugin architecture and deployments that scale.
We build for the long term
Every website we create is designed to grow with your business. Clean code, maintainable architecture, and hosting that scales when you need it to.
You talk to real people
No chatbots and no tier-1 support reading from a script. When you reach out, you get someone who understands your site and your business.
Our technology stack
We are deliberate about the technology we use.
Managed WordPress hosting on AWS
Reliable hosting with daily backups, uptime monitoring and room to grow as your traffic does.
WordPress
The world’s most popular CMS, powering 43% of the web, flexible enough for anything from a landing page to a large online store.
Content delivery networks
Your site’s files served from the server closest to each visitor, worldwide.
Security-first setup
SSL certificates, firewalls, automated backups and proactive monitoring as standard.
Who we work with
Our clients are typically small to mid-sized businesses who understand that their website is a critical part of their operation, not just a digital brochure. They want a team they can trust to keep things running, and a partner who can help them grow online.
Today we host and maintain more than 30 live WordPress sites, including online stores, a golf club and a sheet metal fabricator. See our work with Boulder Creek Golf Club and Wilde Thyme Foods.
Let’s talk about your site
Whether you need a new website, a redesign, a move to better hosting, or a reliable team to manage what you already have, we would love to hear from you.
We reply within one business day. Or start with a free website audit.
